Report Date: 05/May/2022
After playing at SoccerPro Bangna in December, we gave it a try at SoccerPro Onnut this month. Without going into nitty-gritty details, it seems that both spots are suitable for Vets League format, and we can pick-&-choose either venue in future months, depending on availability.
In the Season #18 opening monthly tournament this month, it was a good gathering of 10 teams, playing on 2 fields in a 5-hour fixture. Champions from last 2 months (Bangkok Condo Rentals and Toto’s Titans) were present, as well as title challengers German Allstars and Bangkok Oldboys. Over-50 oldtimers were represented by Bangkok Spartacus, accompanied by the youngsters in Bangkok Celtics and Teak Temple. As always, BU Japan and Japan FC would not miss the opportunity for a shot at any trophy. And, seeing Perfekt Boyz amongst the gang after a whole year was pleasant too.
Group Stage saw a few indicative match-ups for the title claims:
■ Toto’s Titans 0 - 1 Bangkok Condo Rentals
■ German Allstars 0 - 2 Teak Temple
■ Bangkok Spartacus 3 - 2 Bangkok Oldboys
■ Perfekt Boyz 3 - 2 Bangkok Celtics
■ Bangkok Condo Rentals 5 - 0 BU Japan
■ Teak Temple 2 - 0 Bangkok Condo Rentals
When the dust settled, we found in the:
■ Cup [1st] Division: Teak Temple, Perfekt Boyz, Bangkok Spartacus, Bangkok Condo Rentals
■ Plate [2nd] Division: Toto’s Titans, Japan FC, Bangkok Celtics, German Allstars
■ BadCup [3rd] Division: BU Japan, Bangkok Oldboys
In the BadCup Division, Bangkok Oldboys finished the day on a high note with a 3-0 win against BU Japan, and handed over the BadCup to Mori San.
In the Plate Division, last month’s Grand Finalists, Toto’s Titans and German Allstars, found themselves challenging for the Plate Trophy, and this time German Allstars edged out with a score of 1-0, including much kerfuffle just like last month!
In the Cup Division, 3rd place match saw the “senior citizens” Bangkok Spartacus and Perfekt Boyz battling it out, and Perfekt Boyz clenching the win on narrow penalty-shootout.
The Grand Final was occupied by Teak Temple and Bangkok Condo Rentals — the 2 top finishers from Grouo-A. Being on the younger side, Teak Temple seemed the favourites; however, when Markinyos shows up to play for the Rentals, we all know that it’s a game changer. The result ==> A multigoal entertaining game, where Bangkok Condo Rentals took home the January championship trophy with a 4-2 score.
Congratulations! 😊
Last point! There were a couple of undesirable moments on the pitch last month, which we need to chat about at the Captains Briefing before the kickoff of the February tournament on Feb/13th.
See y’all soon.
Kind regards,
-Eralp
