Report Date: 30/May/2022
The normal service resumed at the Vets League, getting back upto 10 teams again at the May/2022 competition.
The usual suspects — Scandinavian Vikings, German Allstars, BU Japan, Japan FC, Toto’s Titans, Japan Allstars, Bangkok Condo Rentals, Bangkok Oldboys — were all present. We had a returning team in the mix — Prachauthit United — back from a long absence since LINK:Sep/2020. And, to top them all up, the ever-filler-uppers — Team-X Volunteers — were also present with strong numbers.
With the incredible championship for the Bangkok Oldboys last month, we were certain to witness plenty of challenge to their dominance.
Some interesting scores in the Group Stage:
■ BU Japan 0 - 4 Bangkok Oldboys
■ Japan Allstars 0 - 1 Prachauthit Unted
■ Bangkok Condo Rentals 5 - 1 Scandinavian Vikings
■ BU Japan 0 - 4 Japan Allstars
■ Japan FC 1 - 0 Toto’s Titans
■ Japan Allstars 1 - 4 German Allstars
■ Scandinavian Vikings 3 - 0 Team-X Volunteers
When the dust settled, it was clear that group toppers were fully tuned in for the championship: Bangkok Oldboys (4 wins, 13 points, with 1 bonus point) and German Allstars (3 wins, 1 loss) in Group-A, and Bangkok Condo Rentals (2 wins, 2 draws) and Scandinavian Vikings (2 wins, 1 draw, 1 loss) in Group-B.
Shield Division (GF):
This left us the championship at the bottom end for the BadCup with the underpowered BU Japan and the baffled Toto’s Titans. Titans had a strong team on the day, but their unexpected loss to Team-X Volunteers on a 2-point goal by an over-60s pink wrist-band player, Horst, threw a spanner in their their championship plans on the day.
But, to salvage the day, they turned up the the BadCup Final fully tuned in, leaving no surprise on the final result.
■ BU Japan 0 - 4 Toto’s Titans
==> BadCup Champions: BU Japan
==> Shield (9th) Champions: Toto’s Titans
Plate Division (SFs):
The second tier, Plate Division, semi-finals were as heated as ever.
■ Japan Allstars 2 - 0 Team-X Volunteers
■ Japan FC 3 - 0 Prachauthit United
Plate Division (GFs):
■ Team-X Volunteers 3 - 2 Prachauthit United
■ Japan Allstars 3 - 2 Japan FC
==> Plate (5th) Division Champions: Japan Allstars
Cup Division (SFs):
The championship division for the tournament trophy saw some challenging games and high quality football, including Oldboys and Vikings meeting again to repeat their last month’s final — this time, Vikings narrowly edging out.
■ Bangkok Oldboys 0 - 1 Scandinavian Vikings
■ Bangkok Condo Rentals 3 - 2 German Allstars
Cup Division (GFs):
In the Grand Final, after a rough bout at the SFs, and without substitudes due to injuries, Vikings were no match for the Brazilian+Portuguese attack and English defence of the Condos.
■ Bangkok Oldboys 2(3) - 3(2) German Allstars
■ Scandinavian Vikings 0 - 4 Bangkok Condo Rentals
==> Cup (1st) Division Champions: Bangkok Condo Rentals 🏆
Congratulations! 🙂
We all had a wonderful day, and after 9 hours and 29 games of football among 10 teams, not even a yellow card on the day ✌️
Best of all, plenty of witty banter and laughter for all involved.
See y’all soon at the June tournament on Jun/12th (Sun).
Kind regards,
-Eralp
